Why Cashmere Is the Ultimate Investment Piece

A quality cashmere sweater is worth the investment because it outlasts ordinary knitwear many times over, feels incomparably soft against the skin, and can be worn year-round—bringing its true cost per wear well below that of cheaper alternatives.

What makes cashmere an investment, not an expense

Consider the mathematics of a wardrobe. A fine cashmere sweater worn twice a week across five years costs a few dollars per wear. A lesser knit that pills, loses shape, and is replaced each season costs far more over the same period. This is the "buy once, buy well" principle, and cashmere rewards it more generously than almost any other garment.

Not all cashmere is equal

Quality begins with the fibre. We work exclusively in 100% A-grade cashmere, with fibres averaging 15.2 to 15.8 microns—the finest grade, and the reason our garments feel incredibly soft from the first wear and soften further with time. Our fibre is sourced from the Alashan region of western Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, and Tibet, where the climate produces the longest, finest cashmere in the world. Every garment is made in China by a family-run factory we have partnered with since our founding, and visited in person many times.

A garment for every season

Cashmere is naturally insulating and moisture wicking—up to eight times warmer than wool in winter, yet featherweight and breathable enough for a summer evening. This trans-seasonal versatility is what separates cashmere from other knitwear: an investment piece earns its keep twelve months of the year, not four.

Cared for well, it lasts a lifetime

Hand wash gently and infrequently, dry flat, comb away natural pilling, and store with cedar. A well-loved cashmere piece can be passed to the next generation—which is, in the end, the truest measure of an investment.
